Having a bit of trouble controlling my food.

Thursday, July 11, 2013

I am having a little bit of a problem controlling my food. I came home last night from work knowing I had nothing in the house to eat. So I stopped off at Walgreens to pick up whole grain bread which they did have and I thought I would pick up some protein bars and have one in the morning before I went swimming. Well, tried one last night and the rest didn't make it to morning. I tracked it all and now have calories left for about one more meal today. The truth comes out. I bought them full well knowing that even though the claims on the package stated full nutrition they most likely and did have decent amount of sugar in them. A my weakness is sugar. I will know better next time not to trust myself with protein bars. Can't eat just one. Lesson learned again. Today I want to go out and buy a food scale and different kind of dry roasted nut to make my own low carb, high protein, sugar free trail mix for work. Because I have to get in the habit of eating a small meal every 4 hours at work. And I usually never eat anything during a 12hour shift. Thanks, Cheers, Keith

You can do it. A food scale is an excellent idea.

I hear you! Sugar is addictive, and I had to stop buying balance bars because I ate them like candy.

For quick small meals on the go, I like low-carb shakes (like Atkins), half an apple with a tbsp of peanut butter, half an avocado spread on a rice cake, or a low carb or Greek yogurt with a quarter cup of Kashi granola. Those seem to give me a couple of hours reprieve from hunger pangs, as long as I'm busy working.

You are brave to own up to it, track it, and blog about it. Keep going. Today is a new day.

Ah, you have learned a lesson many of us have had to learn the hard way too. Good job on tracking it though - and for being honest. Yes, eating every four hours is a must! Good luck - emoticon
