My devotional this morning had this as the highlight for the day. After yesterday's experience, I find it even more true than before. Glad to have this day to rejoice in.
Yesterday late afternoon my husband and I were caught on the way home from our daughter's home in a 70 m.p.h. straight wind storm. We pulled off the road into a parking lot and did a lot of praying! The wind rocked our truck, even moving it at one point, the rain came down in wind blown sheets, and at one point even heard a small roar. We have never been so frightened, but we put our trust and our lives in God's hands.
It was not classified as a tornado though, even though there were little ones popping up all over the place. There were several trees along the parking lot, and one in the middle that had big branches flying - one tree was split - but God protected us and our truck. When we saw limbs and branches all around our truck, and none had hit it - WOW. On the way home we had to drive under a tree that had fallen across the road (left just enough room for one lane to pass through), many, many trees blown over or split, and the fields....corn fields completely blown over on its side, the wheat shocks blown over, water, water everywhere. Only had one little area that we had to drive through the mud, gravel and water, thank goodness. And the water wasn't more than a couple inches high, but the berms and ditches were running full.
We were so very, very thankful to be home and that we had His protection!
So rejoice everyone, this is the DAY THAT THE LORD HAS MADE!
