Short term fitness goals

Thursday, July 11, 2013

On my SparkPage I've written that one of my goals is to run 5k. I can walk 5k, but I'd like to have the stamina to run that distance. I don't have to run it fast; I just want to be able to do it.

I sucessfully completed Couch to 5k program years ago, but didn't follow it up with consistency. I tried the program again fairly recently, but had trouble keeping up with it. So after looking into a number of other different programs, my program includes 3-4 days per week of doing a combination of walking and running, interval fashion. The distance and time varies, but I currently try to get in 9 miles per week over those 3-4 sessions.

I'm using the Nike+ app to track my distance and speed and doing these workouts both outdoors and on a treadmill, depending on weather and schedule. My goal for each workout is to beat my average speed per mile which means that I'm increasingly running a bit more over time.

See, I KNEW you were amazing!

I despise/loathe/hate running with a passion, and can only say that folks like you who *voluntarily* add it to their fitness amaze and astonish me!

It's great that you've researched the options and came up with a plan that best suits you, your schedule, and your goals --- I'm looking forward to the post one day soon that says "I just ran a whole 5k!"

    Strong thoughts to you!
