A quiet birthday...

Spent most of my day with the dog. I did go out for a quick lunch with a friend before picking up my nieces from drama club. Lunch was tasty, but high in fat and too many calories, especially since I just barely made my 120 minutes of exercise today. I took a decent walk with the dog this morning because I brought treats along and every time he would lie down and give me the sad puppy eyes I would offer him a treat, which got him up and moving again. Then I had a brisk walk by myself to go get the truck from my dad, so that I could pick my friend up for lunch. After lunch I took the dog out to the farm and let him run around a little. After dad drove us home I read for a little while then checked the weather and decided to walk the dog before it started storming, so we took a short walk and only got a little wet, as it waited to start pouring rain until we were headed inside again. I also took the dog around the block after dinner. Other than that I have mostly been sitting in front of the fan with the dog, reading. Sounds like a nice way to spend a birthday to me. This is number 39, so I am thinking next year I should have a big party and really celebrate turning 40.
Tomorrow is a run day for me. I am hoping the cooler temperatures that followed the rain this evening hang around and that the humidity drops. That would make running more fun. It has rained an awful lot this summer, but so far it hasn't really interfered with my workouts and outings. Wind has been more of an issue for kayaking than rain so far. I am not certain if we are going kayaking tomorrow night or not, and I probably won't know until about 3pm, when my brother is done with work for the day.
