First day

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

Today was the first day of the new job. It was pretty good. I did not get a headache from the stress of it. I did not mess anything up too badly- actually, not at all. And I had a nice time getting to know the girl who was assigned to help me out and be my mentor while I'm getting used to the job.

I'm really tired now, though. This was a lot of work for one day, and I'm totally not used to that at all- it's been nearly 5 years since I've had a job. So I'm going to go to bed early tonight, I think.

Tomorrow I will get up and walk and do what I need to do before I go have lunch with the friend who referred me to this job, and then I'll go to work. Tomorrow is Thursday so I'll have choir after that- a good thing!

I'm still thinking about ways I can incorporate my weight loss into the new job. There is a way, and I will find it- once the shock of learning about a job on Monday, interviewing for it Tuesday, and starting it on Wednesday wears off!

Hey!! Congrats Sarah - I'm so happy for you!!

I don't know what your work place is like but a few suggestions as to how to incorporate your weight loss into you new situation... ensure that you pack healthy food to have with you. I have started to pack my lunch the night before so that the morning rush doesn't sabotage my food choices for the day. I have started parking my car a block away and adding to my exercise by walking to the office. The newest thing I am trying to add, I just read this suggestion from another blog, is going to the washroom on a different floor of my building. I work on the second floor and I am trying to use the washroom on either the 1st or 3rd floor. I also have not yet seen the inside of the elevator in this building and taking the stair always.

Mentally tired is so different than physically tired so I'm sure that starting a new job with lots to learn will wear you out for a bit. Get lots of rest so you can enjoy your work!!

Congrats again - enjoy!!

I'm looking for a new job, too, and would also be shocked with the quick turnaround! I hope that you have a great time with the new job, and I know you'll do excellent work! Congrats, and have fun!
