Today has been a very rainy, stormy day. Lots of thunderstorms, clouds, and occasionally a peek of sunshine. Lots of flooding. Lots of folks struggling against Mother Nature to drive to work, to keep their basements dry, to go on with their daily routine.
What happens when we stop struggling and just listen? Listen to the boom of the thunder crashing, the pitter-patter of droplets striking the ground, the wind whistling through the trees and shaking the branches. Think about the push and pull of Mother Nature, the futility of struggling against her. What happens when we take a break from the run-run-run reaction of our lives, and instead listen to what's going on, outside and inside?
I don't have the answers, just lots of questions. But I'm glad that I took some time today to think, to listen, to contemplate, to write, to be myself. Sometimes it feels like life is just one big merry go round of things that must be done right this minute. A few minutes of quiet contemplation is good for the soul.
