Logging meals, need help

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

Ok, I know that it is a good thing to log your food for the day, helps keep you on track, you can see what you are eating etc. Here is my confession... I hate doing it.

Ok maybe hate is a strong word, I am not committed to do it would be better. I want to, I start out with good intentions but then poof they are gone. I have done baby steps trying to just log in breakfast but even that didn't help.

So here is my plead.... what do you to get yourself to log your meals in everyday? What has worked for you? Looking for any and all ideas, I need to get myself motivated to do this everyday.

I was like you where I hated logging down food since I felt it was time consuming. However, I realized that when I overate that is when the food journal was inconvenient. I actually felt guilty when I wrote down all the "bad" things I consumed. Writing down the bad foods and seeing the calorie content made me realize that these fast convenient foods were causing me to gain weight.

So things to motivate me to keep a food journal:
- losing a pound to two pounds a week
- clothes getting lose
- my increased energy level (the "bad" foods made me feel so sluggish)
- observing what my body is craving during certain times of the day or month
- keeping within my calorie range

I hope this helps.

I feel on my journey I'm on, it's crucial to log. Mainly because I want to track my eating. I am on the road to health, and logging keeps me aware of what I am eating how it may be affecting me, and if it's too high in carbs, etc.

I use the grouping for most of my meals. It cuts back on the time taken. I have never disliked doing it, and it's very beneficial to my well being. I guess that's the key, you have to like to do it, in order to want to do it.

All I know is I am losing a lot more weight, watching what goes in each day, by regulating the too much's are too little's.

What are your barriers to logging your food? Maybe if you look @ the barriers in black-and-white you'll be able to identify what the problem is and work with it.

That's what I had to do. I think it really helps me stay in line and honest! Do you think it could be overwhelming because you think of perhaps having to do it forever? And that's daunting? I just take it a day-at-a-time.

Hope these ideas help a little.

I also hate logging my food, but for me it makes a huge difference. I can see a difference when I log every day for weeks vs. not doing it. Its seeing the positive changes that keeps me motivated. I just know I do worse when I don't
