Summer is so here!

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

The temperatures definitely prove it. We are in the 100s! emoticon emoticon Sometimes, it does not cool off until 9pm. Crazy weather.

I am still helping out on the night shift (hopefully just through July). With that said, sleep remains sporadic and elusive and never adequate emoticon. And I am drinking way too much coffee!!

As far as working out, I am not getting my strength training in like I had hoped. But I am on my feet a lot at work so I started wearing a pedometer this past week to track my steps. And it turns out I am not doing too badly making it to an average of 8000 steps. Even had a couple of 10000+ days. emoticon

With the heat and humidity have come the bugs and more bugs. I cannot go outside without getting bit by something!! I have bug bites all over my ankles and the other day; I found a dozen bites on my thigh. And this was after I had sprayed insect repellent and wore long clothes and sleeves. So despite my love for outside, I am restricting my time outdoors this summer except for early mornings.

The temps here have been triple digits, too--yesterday it was 102, 104 with humidity. Amber & I have spent a LOT of time at the pool!
I got stung by a bee on Sunday. I haven't been stung since I was a kid-I'd forgotten how much it HURTS!

I hope you get off night shift soon. That's a crazy shift!

When I lived in TX I could only be out early in the mornings. W got cabin fever in the summer, not winter!

I've always heard that night shift workers have a tough time of it - I feel for you. Hope you get finished with that soon!

For a walk in the woods a couple weeks ago, I put on Deep Woods, but after several hours, I guess it wore off. I really got eaten up, especially around the ankles. Must have been chiggers there. Oh, it was SO itchy. And I even had large blisters. The doctor gave me a shot and some cream to put on them. I wore jeans for a while to cover up the best I could. I sympathize with you.

Do you think they're especially bad this year?

My sympathy with the bug bites. They are biting here too. We also have the steamy hot weather. Still I prefer that to the icy, cold of winter. Stay cool and be happy!

Try lemongrass oil but mix it with another oil. That should help keep those biting bugs away. Hope it cools down for you but it looks like it will be a hot summer for you guys out west!
