Feeling and doing great, even with distractions!

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

This is the first time in my life that I have committed to a healthy lifestyle and exercising habits, and have stuck to it. I have been feeling great lately! It has been tough, though; I work at Wetzel's Pretzels. It has been two weeks since I made a promise to myself and my co-workers that I would not touch another pretzel ever again. They have been very supportive(although, most of the girls are on diets, so it's easy for them to tell me no).
When I would come into work, I would go straight for the pretzel case and grab a full bag of pretzel bitz(which is a pretzel and a half, mind you). After that, and two cheddar cheese cups later, I would make myself a huge cheese meltdown pretzel. I would then demolish that with a cup of pizza sauce and a cup of cheddar cheese sauce. When I was finally done eating all of that, I would feel so bloated and disgusting. I would have to finish the rest of my eight-hour shift feeling full and tired. It was turning in to an almost every day thing(I work five days there). If I knew I didn't have to work the next day, I would bring home pretzels to have on my days off. It sounds crazy and it was! Who obsesses over pretzels that much? I even got my boyfriend into the habit of eating pretzels all the time. He has asked me almost every night I've worked in the past two weeks for a pretzel and I keep telling him no! I've brought him home one, just one time. Not another one since. I'd rather not see him eating one of my favorite foods in front of me, ya know?
I can't wait to keep updating you all on my progress. I am very excited!

Thanks, Quootie! Very true-I need to leave this place! I'm only part time there, and the bosses are owners of many subways and the pretzel place. They are moving me to a subway soon! Healthier food! Their salads are so good, too! emoticon

DeeDee, I don't know what the employment situation is like where you are, but you need to get out of a pretzel shop lol.
Sounds like you are making great progress. I wish you the greatest success. Every little victory will give you alittle more of the self confidence you are looking for. Go full speed ahead

  Thank you, 87Berkebile. emoticon

Gabi-Thank you for your comments. It's definitely nice knowing people care and always have some sort of positive words of encouragement. I know exactly what you mean. I don't think I could do just a 1/2 cup of ice cream! But my one food I've given up entirely will have to be the pretzels. I don't know if I'll ever be able to eat them again! It's been so nice not eating them. Last night I had an awful craving for a regular pretzel and cheddar cheese. I just made myself a salad and munched on some veggies instead. I felt proud of myself!! As for my name, I get called Deedee, or just Dee! All are yours up for the grab! emoticon

Way to go Danielle (or do you prefer DeeDee?)!!! I know that getting to the weight I feel is healthiest for me is all about a change in lifestyle and technically there are NO forbidden foods, but I also know which foods are trigger foods for me so while I am on this phase of my journey I am avoiding those foods. For instance I love ice cream and know that I can't stop at the 1 serving size - 1/2 cup, so I would rather not have it at all. Once I get to my desired healthy weight, I will then add any food that I found to be a trigger food back into my diet and observe both my mind's response and my body's response and determine from there whether I want to eliminate it from my diet permanently.

Looking forward to hearing about your progress!
