Re-Assessment and Realization

Buddy and I were walking today and we met another couple and their dog... on our third meeting, 1.3 km around the reservoir, they asked me how many laps I did and if it was working. I said, not really. Then I did another lap, and was still going at a good pace and I gave myself some credit... I realized that even the first lap was hard at first, and I'd had enough after the 3rd lap today, but I still did it and also the little water bottle exercises I do on my walk there, I do see "baby biceps" starting...and most of all, I notice that my arms aren't paining any time I try to put them in the air....so YES THIS IS WORKING....
(Also this lady told me she goes to the gym, someone else had told me about and it's only about $1 a day, so for the fall when it gets too cold, should check into it)

Weight's not falling off me in pounds and pounds, but I am building MUSCLES.... and we all know that muscle weighs more than fat and helps us to use up more calories too.

I did need to do this reevaluation and actually assess that I am making improvements and progressing. And also, as I measure my B.S. more often, I am seeing really good numbers.... The sleeping thing is the only thing that I have to still work on and I think it's got to be Early to Bed, and Early to Rise...

I did have chicken tenders in a pinch since we were late getting home from town last nite, so I expected that would affect the scale... it did up 0.6, but I also knew why, and I did make that choice, so I reinforced myself expecting that gain, and wasn't upset over it. Even after I did get home, I had a bowl of homemade soup and a greek yogurt, so not far off at all. And if this 17 Day Diet is that finicky that one slight change will cause an increase in weight, I may have to re-assess that too... I know 5 lbs in a week is a real encouragement, but I have also known larger weight losses than that many times when I have stuck with Weight Watchers, so I think what I have to do here, is keep on track, but re-assess if this is the best course of action for me. I definitely see the difference with being low glycemic but I miss having a few more fruit than that a day. The very positive I am re-learning doing this is MORE VEGGIES PLEASE... I love them. They are good for me. I can prepare them in so many ways. I can do the Go Local thing and buy what is on sale and make use of it...I really do not have any excuses....

This is for me and my health and it makes me feel good.

    Muscles - how cool for you. My kids have been in town and I haven't been walking/exercising as well as I should. I'm feeling fat.

    WAY TO GO on making progress. Every little bit does help and you are definitely further ahead with building muscle. We also have to watch water weight gain as that fluctuates every day.

    with you having a mention of up .6 and doen 5 lbs in the a short space of time, I have to ask...are you weighing yourself every day?

food you eat amount of liquids you drink (or don't drink), amount you prespire, pee and elimate wastes from your body each day, affect the numbers on the scale. as well as the monthly body cycles. Just because a woman ( and even men) pass into the menapausal stages of life , those cycles are still happening at the same time of month..water retention bloating, waxing and waning of the blood and body fluids so on and so forth.

The body has normal fluctuations day to day and will show small gains and small losses day to day. That is why weight watchers , TOPS, and doctors say, weigh once a week, same day of the week, same time of the day, for an honest number for weight losses.

So, if that is the case, I would ignore this little gain and check the scale ONE WEEK from when you weighed your 5 lb loss

    You really have to take a step back and look at the whole picture. You are walking farther more easily, you are developing muscles and your blood sugars are improving. You are making better food choices and if you don't you realize the impact on the scale because of the sodium in the food. 5 lbs a week is pretty aggressive when a lb is 3500 calories. I typically see 1, maybe 2 lbs in a week, but the average is 1. Good for you if you are seeing more!
