The Easy Way to Stop Drinking

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

I heard about this book by Allen Carr and I wanted to either buy it or find it at the library, but one of my wonderful SparkFriends, FRENCHSEAMS, sent it to me and I read it, cover to cover, within 24 hours.

I think it hypnotized me. I don't know for sure. I can't explain it, but I've lost all desire for alcohol.

I really feel like I'm cured of the addiction. I know what AA says, "You are always an alcoholic and forever in recovery - just one drink away from being drunk" This author doesn't agree with that.

I feel "FREE" and "STRONG" and "HEALTHY" - not tempted to have a drink at all !

I don't know how it worked because I didn't agree with everything he wrote and some things were quite confusing and seemed to contradict each other but all I know it that it appears to have "worked" - on me at least.

Now my sweetheart is planning to read it. Wouldn't that be something if we BOTH stopped drinking?!
Just think of how much money we would save ! We could take a vacation. But we're on vacation every day of the year, so buying a car would be our goal, I suppose. I haven't had a car in almost 5 years, so that would really be awesome.

So anyway, if you're having a problem with drinking alcohol, you've GOT to read this book. The Easy Way to Stop Drinking by Allen Carr.

Weird - but it works.

That happened for me when I stopped smoking- cold turkey. Haven't had a cigarette in 22 years.
Just remember, when you are weak, then God is strong! I know you can continue in your new and healthy life. God bless you for making the change. emoticon emoticon

WOnderful to hear I hope it stays tat way - I had about the same effect from AA - after the first meeting my desire to drink disappeared and I have no idea why. That was eight years ago, since then there has been times when I have felt som longing for a drink, but it has not been hard to resist as I find life without alcohol so much easier than with it.

Thanks everyone for your encouragement. I had my last drink Sunday night and now it's Thursday afternoon and I'm feeling great. I didn't have any withdrawal symptoms. I don't want to drink alcohol anymore. I really doubt that I will. But I'll keep praying that I don't forget my decision to quit. Thanks again everybody. God Bless You All !

I'm happy to hear that it worked for you Val. I read it a while back and while I found it 'good' - it was not my miracle cure. But that's the beauty in our journey's - everyone is unique in what will work for them.

I hope it helps Johnny too but with his level of drinking, it will be a bit harder for him to stop completely without help. You know yourself about his withdrawals ... so it may have to be a weaning off for him at first.

I wish you all the best!
