I finally hit the mark! 100,000 Fitness Minutes!

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

If you think you can do it, you can".
- John Burroughs

Yesterday I finally hit that big mark... I completed 100,000 minutes of fitness since truly logging my fitness here on Spark People. I started this journey not really liking exercise to now, it is the one thing that I love to do. It took time, but I consider myself an athlete now for the first time in my life.

Back in 2008 when I was trying to change my life style, going to the gym would be here and there. I even quit the gym a couple times. But now, I try to do something everyday because I WANT to workout. My workouts consist of running, bootcamps and circuit training, biking, Crossfit and strength training, hiking, etc.... I participated in multiple 5k races, 10k races, 5 milers, and finally completed my first official half marathon race.

Look at what I created.....!

I still have those days though where I don't feel like working out. And that is OK because this is a lifestyle and we all have those kind of days.

Last night I hit that 100,000 minute mark by going on a run with my oldest son, Jacob. Ever since he hit the teenage years we have been bumping heads every now and then. Last night was a perfect bonding moment. I took him to his baseball game and then on the way home this is what we saw...

It was a beautiful sunset! So I asked him how tired he was after playing ball and if he thought he still had the energy for a quick run. He said he had enough in him to run. So we took off for a late night run in the sunset and it was so awesome. What a great way to hit that milestone, doing something that I love and with my son! BONUS! During the run he told me that he wants to do this more with me. That gave me a huge smile!

Believe in yourself because anything is possible. Keep trying and working at it because it is all worth it in the end. I never imagined that I would ever consider myself an athlete let alone love to workout. So keep up with it and great things will happen!
