So yeah, I rested yesterday.
I actually decided I was going to spend the day doing basically nothing but hanging with the family, and that I did. We went to the library and got some books on running and marathon training, the baby got another seed packet from the summer reading program (marigolds!), hubby and I spent some "quality time" together while baby was asleep ;) and we went to dinner, where I not only did not get a margarita, but also did not eat my body weight in tortilla chips. :)
And I finally read Jeff Galloway's training plan for half-marathons. Now I just have to find a track to practice the "magic mile" on. (Excited!)
I had actually planned to do some resistance training, yoga, or at least dancing, but I took the "rest" order seriously and didn't even study! I did read some for the library program (I'm so ashamed -- we only have two weeks left and I'm still not finished with two books. Usually by this time, I've read at least twice as many of the required reading selections, and am finishing up the last ones that looked interesting. I guess I've been slacking. Well, that and the selections this year were pretty lame: mostly historical murder mysteries and non-fiction books about gardening. NOT my cuppa.)
July kind of sneaked up on me, mostly because I was resetting goals and schedules in June, and being away from the studio for so long while they remodeled REALLY threw me off. I meet my dance coach again in August, and I'm not sure I have a lot to show him. :/
In any case, if I can remember to schedule in one rest day a week, I think it will do my brain and body good. It's probably a good thing to rein yourself in every now and again, to prevent burnout.
