My DD is a beautiful young woman. Unfortunately she has a very negative self image. Maybe I'm partly responsible because my self image is not all that great either. My mother is the same way.
What I'd like to see happen is for her to see herself as we all see her. She's smart, funny, caring, and just a joy to have in our lives. I want her to be happy.
She's always complaining about how fat she is, how much she weights, etc, etc. She lost weight with WW this year and looks great. But she's not satisfied. Her younger sister is always hearing her complain about her weight, since she's over there more often. It's to the point where they don't even want her to mention it anymore. If it keeps up, they will probably start avoiding hanging out, which would be a shame.
If I even mention anything, I'm sure she'll go ballistic. My desire is for her to be happy and confident in herself. She really is an amazing young lady.
I'm not sure if I should even attempt to talk with her about it for fear of being labeled as a busy body, etc, etc or she will just get mad with me. If anyone has some advice, or experience with this, I'd love to hear from you.
