I changed my user name today. I decided that I wanted a completely unique name for Sparkpeople. Being that this is the only place I ever blog, it makes sense to use a different name (at least to me).
I started Week 8 of C25K yesterday. This was a 28 minute run. According to my Garmin, I ran 2.5 miles and had my lowest overall speed. Running under 12 minute miles was a thrill, and now I'll be aiming for 11 minute miles. As my endurance increases, it gets easier to stay at a higher speed without slowing down.
The run itself was interesting. We had a heavy rainstorm, and I was certain that I wouldn't be able to get out. However, when we were putting the kids to bed, I saw that it had cleared up outside. It was nice to see other people taking advantage of time between rainfall outside. Lots of walkers, runners, bike riders. I felt a certain kinship with them - all of us had been waiting for the rain to stop and we all seized the moment.
Any calorie deficit that I had from the run was negated by my fulfilled craving for chocolate milk, my favorite nourishment after a hard run. That's okay though - my runs are for fitness and my diet is for weight loss. Considering I really only want to lose 3 more pounds, it's not a big deal.
My ankles are a little achy today, so I won't do a bonus run tonight. I'll probably do Pilates and I may even do weights. It'll just depend how I feel.
I'm looking forward to switching over to SP's new calorie estimator, based on fitness. I love my FitBit, and I love the idea of seeing SP and FitBit even more integrated.
