To review, I chop each month into thirds, 1-9, 10-19, and 20+. The first third of July is in, and I made it through Independence Day with a nominal half pound loss. Again to review, my first goal is not to give back any lost weight, as if already on maintenance. My second goal is to lose something each period, and I measure in half-pound increments, averaging my daily weigh-ins. Goal three is to enjoy the journey, because if we don't, we soon abandon the chase.
I started this loosely in May, formally in June, and now have 5.5 pounds lost over these last 10 weeks. It's a pretty smooth path so far, and I have no accumulated frustrations or other reasons I can think of to quit trying. I am indeed enjoying this process. I think I finally have the right set of tools or nearly so, and the right approach for me.
I say "or nearly so" because I am still debating whether to continue Weight Watchers vs. one or more alternatives. I so needed them in 2006, finally realizing as "Dr. Fitness and The Fat Guy (and now, Mighty Mom!)" say, you can't lose weight alone. But maybe I'm far enough along where a web alternative I'm looking at makes sense. Stay tuned!
