Pics of bug, pond & Leroy

Tuesday, July 09, 2013

Here's the pic of what we think might be on it's way to becoming a dragonfly.

The experts tell us that our pond and wetlands has become a very happy environment. I thought I'd share a couple pics

Here are a couple of our larger koi along with two new ones we just introduced (they're small but you can see a couple bright orange spots in the shadows of the lillies)

This is the second summer for the orange and black one at the top of the group.

There is also an all black one in there too, somewhere. We gave away 14 large, beautiful koi 3 years ago because they kept breeding and the pond is not large enough for that many. We didn't even know the black one was in there until several weeks later. So, we kept him.

This pic shows part of the existing pond (to the right) and the wetlands (just above the pond). The pile of dirt to the left of the pond, is the new pond that I have been working on. It will also serve as an over flow for the pond and also a run-off to divert water away from our house when it rains (I'm planning on putting in a retaining wall). So far it's about 3 feet deep but we want it to be at least 5 feet deep, and probably another 5 feet longer. It's hard to to get perspective from this pic, but I'm really excited about it.

One last pic, of Leroy during our 350 mile ride over to Klamath Falls. He rides in that sling/pouch on my lap and wears doggles and a harness which is tethered to me. He loves the wind in his face but on the way home but on the way home he was plum tuckered out and snuggled down between us and snoozed.

Very cool. Look at that dragonfly! Who knew?

Your fish pond is definitely a place where I could lose myself for a long time.

And who could resist Bad, Bad Leroy Brown? He is the king for sure!

I LOVE your pond and fish..you are blessed. LeRoy is quite the envy of yorkies everywhere. Wish I was him and riding free. I bet the wind and fresh air does make him tired. I may try a pond but it would depend on if I can get my son to help. First I need a porch off of my patio.

THANK YOU for sharing these pictures! I also love all animals...we have a fox family that visits every night, and a raccoon that we don't let get too close and I even have the cutest tree frog living over the door of our shed...I just love it and dh and I are very cautious opening or closing the door!

Love the doggles...and your baby (Leroy) is just precious...animals are such a joy!

Koi are beautiful fish. What a cool project, I can't wait to see how that turns out.

Leroy looks comfy cozy! I wish I could do that with our dog but I'd have a hard time riding with a 70-pound yellow labe in my lap.

Great pics!

Fascinating. Can't wait to see what it is. It could also be a damselfly, a similar creature. Here's a page all about the ones found in your neck of the woods.
