Really enjoyed our vacation. We took a month long trip in the Med. Three of the weeks were on a cruise ship. It was wonderful. The food was terrific! Thus my little problem. I gained 5 pounds while I was gone in spite of trying very hard to eat sensibly and to exercise. Did I mention the food on the ship was terrific? And, who can resist the tapas in Madrid? Not I!
I did keep up with the exercise. We walked an average of 11,000 steps in the heat every day we were in port which was most of them. I managed Breakfast and lunch pretty well and kept away from many of the food venues that had food available at every hour. Sadly, that did not quite offset the bread and desserts and the ice cream cone that we had to eat because we were very hot on our hikes and the ice cream shops were everywhere!
We did learn that for my husband and I, sharing a meal at dinner time is a good option. Sure I can eat the whole thing, but I am actually satisfied with half of it -- even dessert! Surprised me. Good thing to know before our next trip. We will try to gain less by better planning, but where there is good food, I find that my resistance is absent.
Now we are busy repenting. We are avoiding the grocery store and eating from the fresh vegetables in our garden. I made a great zucchini, tomato, onion soup the other day with a huge zucchini that was hiding in our garden. I made a whole crockpot full and I am now set to eat my way through the pot-full in place of more calorie laden fare.
