Need to reconsider my breakfasts

Tuesday, July 09, 2013

So I normally have a peanut butter sandwich for breakfast, in the car on the way to work. But I'm finding that with adding a sandwich for lunch also I'm running out of calories toward the end of the day. Last night I had a bowl of veges and brown rice in a not-too-calorific stirfry sauce and went over my calorie range for the day. I was well within all the individual carb, protein, fat ranges though. I'm loathe to cut back on my vege intake because I figure I need the vitamins and fibre, so unsure what else I can do.

The issue for me is that I'm needing to take a voltaren for back pain twice a day, so need to have something reasonably substantial or I have stomach problems. Hence having the sandwich rather than my previously usual protein shake for breakfast. I eat whole grain soya and linseed bread so even that is healthy.

Is it more important to be within your ranges than actually be eating healthily? I can't decide.

You should aim for eating healthy AND staying within the calories. You need to add nutrients to your body so it 2 can work properly, fuel you with energy so you can do your workouts. How about scrambled eggs, toss 1/4 cup chopped onion, peppers, mushrooms if you like, some cheese for more protein? Or you can cook some quinoa the night before and add some coconut milk, berries, sprinkle with cinnamon and add some stevia or maple syrup (the dark kind and organic).

I am in the same boat and I'm starting to get more health conscious. You should strive for a healthy, good looking body. I find that when I eat healthy, my body loves it and provides me with energy and good feelings.

Keep it up.... no peanut butter samich.

It's great. I'm using this website to track my calories. I find it really helpful and all the motivation I get is great.

Let's do this. emoticon

My hormones were a mess and wasn't losing any weight rather I kept gaining. It was a real struggle taking medicines with food as I'm never hungry for breakfast. If I do eat breakfast, I didn't have the need for lunch but had to eat because of the medicines. So, I had to think and really analyze my portion sizes.
Peanut butter sandwich was the quickest and easiest as I'm leaving out the door. Try 1 slice of peanut butter. Yes, it may drip so cutting back on the peanut butter and adding yogurt. I recommend taking the medicine after eating the slice. Then yogurt afterwards.
Also helped me was drinking 1/4 or 1/2 glass of OJ before heading to work. Sip lots of water after taking the medicines and will keep you hydrated and settle your stomach.
I started carrying those insulated lunches to work and my food was kept cold for good 6 to 8 hours. During summer add those Icee thingees and will keep it even cooler.
If you want more ideas, I'll send you an email. Let me know.

How about apple &/or banana slices with peanut butter instead of the sandwich in the morning?
or Peanut butter on celery at lunch instead of the sandwich?
