Old friends and laughter

Tuesday, July 09, 2013

Hi,

The past couple of weeks have been interesting to say the least but I'm still here and I'm still smiling.

I was back to see my "shrink" and she is a bit concerned and wants me to add another antidepressant to the two I take now. I'm reluctant but I know I have the prescription in my purse if I need it. I'm not ruling out not taking it but she figured it would help "lift me up" a bit but I want to see if I can through this with diet changes and maybe add in some fatty acids.

July 6 marked seven years since Dad passed away. We decided to remember him by going to his birthplace and let the dogs run on the extensive and vacant beach. It was a wonderful day and we enjoyed it. Louisa spent hours in the lake, Maddy chased a helicopter and Ginger chased bunnies, flies, blowing sand, etc! On the way home they all fell asleep andJohn and I exchanged funny stories about my father.

The next day my long time friend arrived in town from Vancouver and I haven't stopped laughing since. Brian and I met in our first year of university and although he has been gone away for 20+ years it is one of those friendships that just pick up where we left off.

We've been exploring the island and every where we go people think we're married! It's pretty hilarious because Brian is married to Luke ( who both John and I adore) and well, I'm married to John. He (Brian) has been taking some great pictures so I will have to share some with you later. We are both fascinated by old cemeteries so that is what we've been looking at. Weird, isn't it?

This weekend marks our towns civic celebrations and The Eagles are headlining the outdoor concert. I'm not really into concerts but I'm thinking about going anyway. John is not interested at all so he will gladly stay home and take care of the furry rascals. We've got company coming for the concert and in past years our towns population doubles overnight. You don't know who or what you are going to see and that's the fun part. As John says "you just don't know who is going to blow in through your front door during the Salmon Festival."

Well, I must go and get our BBQ ready for supper. Hamburgers!!! Yummy.

Susan

P.S. our weather has been amazing. I know most of you in the Northern Hemisphere are used to the heat but we don't get much here. Over the weekend it hit 34 degrees but it is only 22 here today with a frost warning for tonight!

Wow!! What a fabulous friendship to be able to pick up where you left off! Truly special! Loved the way you honoured your Dad's memory! I absolutely love your photo! Somehow, I can picture you sideways, a little bit cracked ;)
I do envy you getting a chance to see the Eagles, they are one of my all time favorite bands. So glad you have had great weather and been enjoying yourself. Not so happy to hear you may require another medicine :( I hope healthy eating and plenty of exercise does something for you!
Take care of you! Listen to your body AND mind!

Lovely idea to honour your dad. I'm glad you are having a great time with your friend. Wish I could tag along too! Have fun at The Eagles concert. Desperado is one of the few songs I know by heart. Funny, the line from that song, "these things that are pleasing you, can hurt you somehow" keeps running through my head. Guess I should come down from those fences and open the gate.

That was a lovely way to remember your dad.
You sound like you are having so much fun and
the BBQ sounds like fun. Good friends from way
back and nice weather and BBQs - sounds perfect.
Glad you are having nice weather. It's good to have
the script just in case, but just see how you go with
your healthy diet. emoticon

    Wow ... the Eagles! Enjoy!
You sound good Susan that heat must agree with you! It had been really warm here too for a while in the high 20's but it is cooler now only 18 Celsius.
Old friends, warm weather and hamburgers.... that should keep your spirits up.

Good to see your smiling face.

Go see the Eagles! It will be amazing! I'm so glad you've had chuckles with your friend Brian! Fun times! (I saw a friend that I'd made as a freshman in college 20+ years ago last week, too. There must be something in the wind!) :)
