Good morning again, Mind
…How was your sleep? Oh you stayed up late working on our plan? Good, but we do need to get a full rest, you know…at least six hours each night.
Yesterday, a friend reminded me of Philippians 2:13 and so I’ll put it together with verse 12 : "Therefore, my dear ones, as you have always obeyed [my suggestions], so now, not only [with the enthusiasm you would show] in my presence but much more because I am absent, work out (cultivate, carry out to the goal, and fully complete) your own salvation with reverence and awe and trembling (self-distrust, with serious caution, tenderness of conscience, watchfulness against temptation, timidly shrinking from whatever might offend God and discredit the name of Christ). [Not in your own strength] for it is God Who is all the while effectually at work in you [energizing and creating in you the power and desire], both to will and to work for His good pleasure and satisfaction and delight.”
There it is…our true partnership with GOD in Christ!
“And I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He Who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ [right up to the time of His return], developing [that good work] and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you.” - Philippians 1:6 “And whatever you do [no matter what it is] in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus and in [dependence upon] His Person, giving praise to God the Father through Him…Whatever may be your task, work at it heartily (from the soul), as [something done] for the Lord and not for men,” – Colossians 3:17,23
Let's continue our mind matters from yesterday:
1. right attitudes
3. selecting thoughts carefully
4. sources of ideas. Hmmm. Here is an interesting item. If we are going to work together from the inside out, then the stored knowledge and even wisdom must be contemplated as it comes up to join a new idea knocking at your door, Mind. What do you think? How can we best get at beliefs you’ve stored away? What is the authority behind them? I know,
we should ask GOD to bring up what does not belong in the beliefs category…like superstitions or misinterpretations of childhood events. Then there are the ideas gleaned over the years from “the media”, from experiences, from friends and family, from acquaintances, etc. If we want to focus upon what is true and right, honorable and just, pure and lovely, kind, winsome, gracious, virtuous and excellent, then how do we know what does and doesn't fit? Whose ideas should be adopted and kept?
a.“Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God’s will in thought, purpose, and action), So that the man of God may be complete and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
-2 Timothy 3:16-17
Now we have an answer…The Holy Bible… the first source! What about things that are not mentioned in there?
b.“But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My (Jesus) name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you.”
- John 14:26
"All things" will be taught to us. That must mean that for everything important in our lives, there are instructions we can receive from the Spirit of GOD! Even when we are old? What about when we had never learned them..."all things"! Guess we'd better be listening more carefully!!
