Gosh, how time flies - I realize that I haven't added a single blog in over two months.
There are a lot of reasons (and excuses) for the lack of blogs - too many things to do, to much time spent on the bike, too lazy, etc.
But anyway, I'm back for a quick blog and some updates on my many cycling activities.
I guess the trip of the year (so far anyway) was the ride I went on with some others from work two weeks ago (Sat, Jun 29). We ferried our bikes up to Chuncheon, and then rode down the North Han River from Chuncheon back down to Seoul. It was a 50 mile trip and it took us about 5 hours of riding time to finish the trip. It was a really nice ride that went downhill more than it went up, and was a very pleasant ride - until the weather turned HOT right around 11:00 AM - then it was a real slog - so much so, that about half of the group decided to 'pack it in' as soon as we got to the first subway station bound for Seoul (at the 50 mile mark).
It really was a great ride, however, and I would absolutely love doing this again when the weather gets a bit cooler - which means sometime in the Fall.
Another side note: I set a personal best today for our extended loop around the Han river - 18.5 miles in 64 min 58 seconds. It was a pretty good time for a solo run (although I must admit I did draft behind someone for about 3 KM - only returning the favor for letting him draft off me for about 4 km). Anytime I can do this loop under 75 minutes, I'm really stoked - but today? I didn't expect such a good time - but I will take it :-).
