Working on my calendar

Monday, July 08, 2013

I just read a book about Living with Rheumatoid Arthritis. The author stated that you need to monitor your energy and not overextend yourself. That is so true. I then started to look at my calendar. Oh,my!

I have my husband's doctor appointments and mine. I have my trainings and favorite classes. I have my golf lesson and leagues. I have my Berks County Association of School Retirees meetings and events. Plus church visitations to shut-ins.

There is little room for much else. Guess I will be saying no more often!!

I think so long as you aren't rushed and you enjoy those things it shouldn't be too bad. Now if you start feeling run down that would be different. I'm not sure where you would actually add anything else!

I used to be like that. Always everywhere and I finally burned out. And I was YOUNG when it happened! Now I enjoy the silence where I can find it. I would rather text most people than speak on the phone (or I will e-mail), and I prefer the company of my dogs.

Sad state of affairs for someone who LOVES to help people. But I had to back so far away from the world that I don't even watch the news anymore because it's so depressing and such a sad commentary on our world these days.

So always plan your calendar for YOURSELF first. Make sure you have "me time" just for you... and preferable away from home where you won't get distracted into doing housework like I always do!
