so here I am once again trying to get myself back on the healthy eating kick! yesterday went really good, but since today was my granddaughter's birthday, between going out for lunch and then having her favorite foods for dinner, I totally blew it!.....tomorrow WILL be a better day! I'm confident that I can do this, I just have to not only have faith in myself to do it, but make it happen! I'm so ticked at myself for gaining this much weight back....almost back to what I originally started this fight with in 2007....please pray for me that I can stick to my goals this time! It would be so wonderful to see my family at Christmas and look like I've lost 50 lbs. and feel better! So, that's my goal....50 lbs. by Christmas........if not there at that time, I hope I am at least heading that way!

I like LOLAMOM's thoughts! Two pounds a week is a daunting goal and for a lot of people, if you get off track even one time you go off the rails completely.

If you see healthy eating as a "kick" you've already kind of told yourself that you'll allow yourself to go back to unhealthy eating at some point. You will be so much prouder of yourself by picking one or two or three healthy habits to work on and making them stick!

What's the single worst eating habit you have? Drinking soda? Snacking all day? Munching cookies? Emotional eating? Try tackling your single worst habit and nibble away at IT instead of at snacks. If it takes you 6 months to permanently do away with a negative habit or behavior, then so be it. You'll never have to tackle it again, and then you can move on to the next thing. The weight will begin to come off and STAY OFF, which is the point in the long run, no?

You can do this! You have the motivation now you just need the time and the planning!

Instead of results goals (I will lose 50# by Christmas) which if unrealistic is setting yourself up to feel bad, why not try setting daily, reachable behavioral goals (example: I will eat no more than 1400 calories today, I will eat at least five different vegetables, and I will walk at least 30 minutes) then try to keep them for at least 28 days out of the month (hey, nobody's perfect!), then just let the weight loss chips fall where they may. That way you set yourself up for a victory just about everyday, focusing on one day at a time, and can feel good about your success every evening. Everybody's different, but this is what works for me--I get to pat myself on the back nightly and go to bed feeling like I've done something good--and if I only lose 25# by Christmas then what's wrong with that? Either way, wishing you nothing but success.
