And the Diagnosis is...

Monday, July 08, 2013

So today I had my follow-up appt. w/ my ortho doc to discuss the results of my C.T. scan from Friday, and figure out what the treatment plan is...

Gotta say, that I got better news than I expected: NO surgery required! YAY!!!

However... that doesn't mean that it was necessarily "good" news either...

I have a partially torn ligament that connects the pelvis to the front of the hip bone... which explains the "give" I feel when I step, as well as the pain. This particular ligament attaches to the quadriceps and aids in lifting the leg, which also explains why my leg is so weak right now. (I couldn't even do a straight leg raise in the office today)

Treatment: a month on crutches, w/ no more than toe touch weight bearing to that leg... which also means a month off from work. In addition, starting next week, he wants me to start physical therapy in the pool to strengthen the muscles back up w/out the stress of weight bearing on them. (gotta admit - kinda lookin' forward to that - it helped the most after I had my hip surgery)

So... I'm thrilled that I don't have to go under the knife again, and that my hip & hardware all look great. But not too happy about the unplanned 5 week vaca from work (since I've already been off 1 week so far). And talk about cutting it close... I will be released to go back to work the Friday before my hubby's neck surgery on Monday! Which means I will go back to work for just ONE night, and then have another 2 weeks off to help care for him during his initial recovery period.

ON A RELATED NOTE: I just had to share that despite being pretty much on bedrest last week, I still managed to lose another 1lb. this past week! YAY!!!
