Just Blogging to Blog

Monday, July 08, 2013

Yes, what to blog about when we get points if we blog about anything?

Today was a good day, no rain, although I suppose we could have used it. We took my MIL to get her blood work and stopped at the book store to pick up a couple books in the Mitford series.

Anyone ever read any of those books? I'm on the first book, 'At Home in Mitford'. I think the lead character is Catholic, but he talks of marriage. He isn't married in the book. Small town, where everyone knows everyone. I'd like that. Nice calm neighborhood. Reminds me of Mayberry.

That would make a fun story to write, with various characters, living in a small town of....Clancieville (okay, I shouldn't name it after my dog) how about Summermoor, Springdale, (where did Archie and Jughead live?), or maybe a name like Bristolmoor, WinnDixieville (ooo, love their baked beans, slurp), Merlin Mill run, Livermoor (I lived in Liverpool),
Mt., wait, that is taken. Mt. Sandwich. Now I'm just hungry.

need to have a bakery, mercantile, ( just what is a mercantile, a general store?), church, corner deli, repair shop, black smith....oh, how old is this town?? How about a flower shop.

This is like having a boring long day and what goes through your mind. LOL

Anyhow, now you know I've gone over the bend so will sign off now.

That is an idea Nell. I have ideas for people and businesses, just need a storyline. LOL Maybe if I have time, I'll work up something.

Whoa - I agree - for not having something to write about you did a pretty fine job emoticon

I think you need to write that story. You could write it in installments that you post to the blog - then you get to tap into your creative side AND get your SP points for blogging!

I got several of those books for my Mom- she loves that series. And I got the cookbook and other "extra" books for her too. Check Amazon- that's where I got all of hers.

You crack me up, Courti! I love the small town thing- that's what we should do with Westward Ho! They need to settle and set up small town life. emoticon

I've never heard of them. I typically read crime drama, which explains why I don't like going out of my house. emoticon
I hear ya about blogging to get the points. Sometimes you just don't have anything to say.

OOooo, I neveer thought to name the town after an ancestor....TenEyck Valley. I have a lot of intereting names I've come across in my family tree, Keziah (found that in the Bible too), Leander, Baltzer, Baron. Hmmm, Baronville.

I've read the Mitford series. They used to have a cookbook out, too, but I'm not sure if it is still available.

I too write. Most of my stories are based on people I know or events in my life only as fiction. I named the town after one of ancestor's last name. It is fun to have characters all from the same town in each story. I think I'll move my characters in my next story to the area where I have lived for over 20 years.

For thinking you had nothing to write for a blog, you've done a terrific job! Thanks for sharing!!
