So sometimes in life and art, I'm a big ol' copycat. I guess a nicer way of saying that is that 'I'm inspired by...' Even at a young age, I couldn't create without copying. In art class I couldn't draw from life or my mind's eye. I would have to copy somebody else's art, something already drawn or painted.

Remember Tippy from the magazines? Yea, I got accepted to art school too (like everybody else that bothered to submit it). Mine looked exactly like this. I think I was 12 or 13 at the time.

My art teacher was very unamused when I drew and turned this in as one of my assignments.

I could draw him line by line. Nowadays, I have to follow patterns (knitting) or look at abstract paintings and make them my own. The cool thing is now they transform into something different. I know that doesn't make me a true artist, more of an artist wannabe but I'm okay with that. I do it for fun. I'm not selling it and most of the time it's pretty distinguishable from where the inspiration started.

Anywho, this week's inspiration makes me draw the parallel between art and my physical activities. This week I was inspired and motivated by a new goal MOSTMOM1 made in her latest post. She wanted to get her next fitbit badge which was 30,000 steps in one day. I was like, "wow, that's awesome. I haven't received a badge in quite a while. That's a great goal. I wonder what my next badge is." I know I've reached 27,000 steps on last year's trip to New York City where we got 20,000+ each day. But yep, I haven't reached the next milestone of 30,000...

next up...30,000

I think this achievable but I need a little more time since Consistency Has Not Been Not My Name, as of late, getting anywhere between 5000 and 15,000 steps a day. MOSTMOM1 estimates about 14 miles to achieve 30,000 steps. That sounds about right. I'm planning on 12-15 miles.

Part 1 of zee-Plan (not sure why my thoughts are in a french accent):
So what's my plan? Starting yesterday (Sunday=14,138), to get no less than 10,000 steps a day until Saturday.

Part 2 of zee-Plan:

Saturday, I'm getting up extra early to walk from here to the contact station (old entrance to Desoto State Park).

The road is now paved but the wall is still there and doesn't look too much different now. The trees are taller, that's for sure.

Then:

Now (well almost now, the building was recently renovated into a CCC museum. They did a beautiful job preserving the history. It's been sandblasted, molding replaced, and was re-roofed. I think the rededication was in May):

From the old entrance to the park, I'll hike up on the right behind the building taking the trails to the Country Store by the new entrance to the park, looping back around to the trails where the fairies live (they must), through the primitive campgrounds, exiting by the wall pictured on the left and then taking the road back home. I estimate this to be about 12 miles, roundtrip.

The contact station pictured above is on the left of the map. Depending on how I feel, I may add the blue part (Never-Never Land) which would add a little less than 3 miles.

I will come home, regroup, stretch and rest. I'll estimate what I need to do to achieve 30,000 and take 1 to 2 more smaller walks. Probably with the doggies.

I'm excited. If I achieve this Saturday, I can work on some other badges:

Next badge is 2000 miles

Next up is 14,000 floors

I'm having trouble finding where I fall on the above goals since FitBit revamped their dashboard. All I know is that it's been some time since I achieved 1000 miles and 8000 floors and that 2000 miles and 14,000 floors are the next badges.

I've had to get creative with how I'm going to achieve this goal this week. Details to come.

I know, you MUST be on the edge of your seat, da-duh-dummmmm!

Who's with me?

Peace, light, and love. Yo.

Sounds like you have a great plan. I get about 2500 steps per mile (depending on terrain and how fast I am walking).

I'm glad I'm not the only one struggling with FB's new dashboard. Today I realized in settings you can turn it off and go back to the old one (which I did immediately).

Today I got a new badge (two actually) 75 flights of steps and 100 flights of steps. We hiked from the highway parking lot at Carver's gap to the summit of Roan Mtn and then to the Roan High Bluff (for lunch with a view). It was a lot of climbing (inclined trail and steps (logs and rocks) that added to 100 flights!

It does feel good to get a new one. Let us know how you do this weekend.
