I had a great week off. We spent two days in southern Indiana with family at Holiday World. Other than that, just puttering around the house, enjoying summer and not being at work.
I had told myself on May 11 that I would not have a soda until July 3, knowing I was going to a theme park (which has free sodas, how cool is that? And free sunscreen). I also said that I wouldn't have anymore soda after July 4th until ???
To be honest, I tried really hard not to have soda at the theme park. It was warm, in the 80s, most of the time spent at the water park. They had a calorie free peach green tea that was horrible. And I drank water for a while. Finally I broke down and had several sodas. When I say several, the cups were very small-maybe 6-8 oz. And I actually reverted back to water towards the evening. I am not upset with myself, since that was my goal. It also was hot and I wanted liquid. I must admit the first two sodas were fantastic! The others started tasting sickly sweet and sticky. I did not have any soda on July 4th, even though I told myself I could. But, I had one raspberry lemonade this weekend.
What is my goal now regarding soda? I don't know. What I don't want is to start drinking it with regularity again. I'm thinking 1-2 a month, if I really want it. And I think at this point, I can do that without returning to having it with every meal. I think that feels the best: knowing I can control it.
But still, I haven't lost any weight. Gained 2 lbs now since May 11. Of course, my eating habits haven't changed much. I have walked a lot this last week though.
My next goal is to cook at home one time a week and the husband to do the same. We eat every meal out, except when we are at work. I hate cooking, but figure I can surely do this ONE TIME A WEEK! It won't kill me..... And we will save $$.
I am also adding more fruit to the diet. Not much veggies yet (yuck).
Exercise was upped this week naturally since I had time off. Spent time walking and just being more active. Funny how work strips this from me.
I read an article about how strength training is THE way to lose weight. It had a lot of nice arguments in it about why it was better for weight loss than cardio. Which is good, since it's cardio I don't like. I may venture into that a little further.
Anyway, tonight I am cooking tuna burgers. I may be the only person on earth that likes them.
