Stress from School

Monday, July 08, 2013

Just wanted to gripe. I've been in line to register for my university's parking pass since 9 am... that's four hours in line... ON THE INTERNET. The site says that there is a limit on how many users can be "in the workflow." I started out at 131 then it bumped me back to 185... I got down to 32 then it bumped me back to 84. Now I'm 49. Graduate students get to register first, but obviously their system wasn't equipped to even handle the graduate students. It doesn't help that passes cost hundreds of dollars (anywhere from $170 to $500, for one year).

I'm also trying to get an apartment. I spent a couple hours of my wait time calling places in the city where I'll be moving. Finally found ONE studio apartment available, so I filled out an application with the rental company. Now I'm waiting on the application to be approved so I can actually reserve the apartment. If I get this one, it will be under $800 a month for a furnished studio apartment at a nice place. I'll get to move in in early August, which will give me time to get everything fixed before classes start.

I'm also still waiting on one professor to let me know what books I'll need for her class. I emailed her almost two weeks ago, and she hasn't responded. The other three classes have their book lists online. I've already gotten one class's books, and I've ordered a second class's. Around Wednesday, I'll order my books for the third class. So far I've spent around $150 on half the books I will need. But that really seems like nothing compared to the apartment and parking fees, ugh -_-

I started Flylady yesterday, cleaned my sink (heh), and decluttered the bin where I keep extra school/office supplies. Didn't get rid of anything, but I took out what I would need for my classes and put in my backpack, then packed another bag with the necessities I'll need in the apartment (stapler, scissors, etc.). At least I won't need to buy any supplies except a planner.

Well, the apartment place just emailed pictures of the studio and said that they got my application. Downloading the pictures to look at now... hopefully they'll approve the app soon.
