My vacation turned into maid service

Monday, July 08, 2013

My mother in law(bless her heart)is 92.She saves all the nasty work for when I come to visit.I cant stay in her house its so dirty and it smells bad. emoticon Her milk turns to cheese and the onions/potatoes dry up before she will allow them to be trashed.I don't ask I just get the bleach out and clean everything in sight!! emoticon July 4th we decided to have a real vacation just me and DH.She proceeded to cry and nag until we went to see her for a day.Well, that day turned into a week!!She had me go through her dressers, closets, shoes, purses,
jewelry, blankets and sheets on the 5th. emoticon I cant say no!I love her a lot and she tried to pay me $300.Of course I refused, she is after all special to me.She has a clean house and carpets. emoticon We came home both of us worn out and slept like babies!I did get to go to the fitness center 4 times.BBQ is ok but they don't eat veggies and I had to go for some salad quinoa and fish. emoticon emoticon I went to pick up my dog and she is snubbing me for leaving her with my DD.I'm now cleaning my house while she relaxes on her cushion.I just got licked on my hand so she may be warming up a little emoticon I hope all of you had a fun and safe holiday emoticon SUSAN

How nice of you! We have not had a holiday yet, but I would not want to spend it cleaning. BUT it would be nice to still have my Mom! My mother in law has a maid, a big help.

Bless you for giving up your time off! I hope DH pitched in as well since it's his mother as well, you know. I cared for my in-laws until the day they passed so I know what you're going through...they only lived 1 block away so it was a constant for 5-6 years.
Get some rest & make today a special one for yourself! emoticon

my grandma is like that. she asks my aunts to do stuff all the time, but the grandkids will get offered money. Her house is clean and no old food, or bleach needed, just a collection of stuff. She does not haoard but stuff just collects because people leace stuff when they visit.
The great grandkids also get a kick out of seeing all the neat stuff at her house

I know what you mean about old people. My DHs grandmother used to serve us tea in cups that already had dry tea drip marks on them. I used to always wash her dishes before I left.

You are a saint for doing all that work for her. My mother always said that if you do something nice for someone, you'll be rewarded tenfold. I've often found that to be true.

My grandmother's cat used to snub her--He would actually go around with his nose in the air and my grandmother would have to do all his favorite treats to get back in his good graces---LOL That was nice of you to do that for her---I am sure she has a hard time keeping up with stuff at her age.
