'Success is not final' ~ To me this defines reaching goal (success) - it definitely is NOT final!! It's only the beginning of another phase of the journey to health. Staying there, at goal is one gigantic HUGE challenge - attainable & possible - but certainly not easy!

'Failure is not fatal' - This part of the quote is for the glitches, the bobbles, the mistakes & setbacks. None of these 'failures' are final - there's a fix for all of them that only requires reassessment and getting back on track first thing the next morning.

'It's the courage to continue that counts' ~ Yes, this is the key. Digging deep, committing to health and pressing on, continuing with consistency, grabbing the success that is ours to claim.


Had a great day. Church this morning was really nice. Lots of warm, very caring people there. They're very interesting too. After the liturgy, during the coffee & treats time, I was talking to two men who were both amateur historians. They were discussing historical books so I made mental notes and looked the books up once I got home. They're on my reading list now! I love history too. One of the ladies who has a heavy German accent brought in her homemade potato soup as a treat for everyone. I didn't have any and was asked by 3 different people if I wasn't going to have some when they saw I was sitting there at the table with nothing in front of me. This is the first time I've honestly felt like I might have been insulting someone by NOT eating. The lady who made the soup also asked me if I wasn't going to try it. I just told them that I had a big breakfast before I came to church and just wasn't hungry enough to eat. It looked & smelled good, but I wouldn't be a potato soup eater even if I had never found SP. There was oil floating on top of the soup too - I knew it had to be something I'd never eat if it had a label that I could read, giving the contents and nutritional values. I know I'll never eat anything for the sake of winning at social graces. I'll just use as much tact as possible to decline and hope it works! That was my daily challenge!!

    I have offended many a co-worker by not eating their dishes at goodie days. Don't mean to, but it just isn't worth it to me to eat things that are so unhealthy, and that I know I won't really enjoy.

    Good you didn't allow yourself to be sabotaged.

    Potato soup . . . my Grandma used to make it w/butter and it had bacon in it too. I can hear my arteries clogging just talking about it! So, not on my diet repertoire either!

    Sounds like she had plenty of butter in her soup. Potato soup is very delicious and filling and can be a real treat. I make potato soup too but I would have declined as well. There is only so many things we want to put in our bodies. You made the right decision.
