We had a good weekend and now we have another bedroom.

Sunday, July 07, 2013

I had hoped our grandís would be here by now.
It is not to be though.
They are still in Plattsburgh. DGS has a really bad ear infection and besides not being able to go in the pool he lost hearing in that ear so it is better he stay close to the Drís office till things are better for them.

They are still in Plattsburgh and I am taking another steel desk to the scrap yard.
Our neighbors came over to ask to park their truck on our lawn so they could get a heavy snow blower unloaded easier. They have sold their other house and the blower was the last thing to move. Their son helped lift it out he is at the Citadel and he is a weight lifeter.
They backed up on our little hill so the blower just wheeled out in minutes because the tail gate was almost on our grass. No damage so it went well.

I remembered they offered to help if we needed it so I asked if they would help us to put the other old steel desk in to the back of our truck. It was done in minutes with no need of help from DH or me.

Now I have another bedroom. I think I will have to buy a bed for it now.

Our Ca Son Called to make sure all is organized for them to come to Maine. His wife and daughter have never been so we are taking them around Bar Harbor-Acadia National Park.

Our Son's MIL financed the trip for them but there are very few time shares in the area. The only time share she could get was in Bar Harbor area.
Our NV son worked there in summers from school so it was the best place for them to see Maine-his Maine, he loved Bar harbor, we all still do.

They will only be 100 miles away from us. Now we are planning the LOGISTICS of all of this.

With the Grands in Plattsburgh being sick a number of things we were supposed to do are not yet done. Our NY Grands were all ready to help me trim bushes and do yard work, they are always a great help but with them sick I have done most of it myself.
Our California son is coming to Maine probably via Wisconsin where he has to go to on a business trip so where or when we will pick him up is still a mystery.

DH and I drove our RV for the first time this year. Just to check the engine, tires etc. We only did our grocery shopping in it. Just in case there might be a problem. The RV will house some one most likely DH and I.

Life is often fun and challenging with our wonderful scattered family. I am sure it is over 20 years since the boys saw one another.
I sure hope we can get them all together. At least MOST of them. Our 50th celebration will be just the family. I want them to be able to chat as our family used to do.

It is less than three weeks and they will be here. HUGS to my special friends Pat in Maine.

    Pat,

Consider an air mattress as your new bed. They make some very nice ones (I have one since I never know when a hurricane will come and I need an extra bed for someone). The nice ones have their own motor and blower attached and you simply plug it in and let it fill with air. You can adjust the firmness also. When it is not in use you can simply store it in the bag it comes in and pull it out if needed again.

Looks like you are making great progress on your anniversary plans. Enjoy.

Cathy

I pray your grandson gets better quickly so they can join in the family fun, and be of some help with last minute preparations. I'm excited for you to have your boys together again. I know you are champing at the bit for them to get there.

Pat, hope the grands are better soon....no fun. Sounds like you are really prepared. What a wonderful reunion that will be for all with a visit to Bar Harbor on top of everything. One of my favorite places. Will you do a trip to Fort Knox???? Another favorite.

Your reunion should be wonderful! Worth all that cleaning. I smiled when I saw your notes identifying your children by state. We do that too, e.g., the CT Steele's, the UT Steele's. I guess with far-flung families we have to do that....

It seems so sad that your boys haven't seen each other for 20 years. No wonder you are so excited. It just shows you how fast life flies by. We need to savor every moment!

Ah, Pat. I imagine you are counting down the days until the family is with you!! You are fortunate to have such good neighbors. We have several of ours that are, too. However since last month until this morning, three moved away. It is really sad for us, but we still have some others.

Pat this sounds so exciting. I'm sure things will fall in to place and everyone will mend well and get there safely. But if you and your darling husband will be taking the RV make sure you put an extra effort into making that special also for the two of you and keeping it as cool as possible. It has been hot here lately. At least in the Boston area.
