No Good Deed Goes Unpunished

No good deed goes unpunished."
I have heard this statement before, but I never knew what it meant until now.

I am an animal lover and I will do what I can to help an animal. I have taken two stay cats in my home now that I love. The oldest is 16 yrs and the younger is almost 5 yrs.

I had been feeding an outside cat for a few months. She had been sleeping on top of my garbage can. Every day when I open my door, she was there. This past Tuesday
morning she was not there. I found her laying beside my porch not moving, but alive. It was raining so I grabbed her by the scruff of her neck and put her on the porch.

She just fell over. Not normal for a stray to let someone pick them up. I tried to feed her, but that was not happening. She disappeared. Found her under my car on the 4th of July, just laying there. She would not move. A friend helped me shoo her out. She was limping very badly.

I tried to get someone from the city to come get her....they do not do that on a holiday.

Friday they agreed to come get her. I waited till she came out of hiding and left food out for her and called the city to come rescue her. I figured her right hind leg was broken.

When the city worker showed up, I thought I would help. So I reached over and picked her up by the scruff of her neck and headed over to the city worker to put her in his cage. She did so good and was purring all the way across the yard. That is until I got right up to the man with the cage. CHOMP........ she bit into my left thumb.
I did not drop her, I did get her into that cage. My thumb still hurts.

Friday night, I remembered that I have not had a Tetanus shot since 1998..... that was a couple of years back to say the least. So, I go to my Doctors office that is open for two hours on Saturday to get a Tetanus shot.

The shot from my Doctors office never happened. The NEW health care laws require ME to pay $200 up front for a Tetanus shot at my Doctors office. I was told to go to the ER and my insurance will cover that shot at 100%...... That is a big crock of stuff, if you get my drift.

Got my shot on Saturday at the E.R..... Sunday, my arm has a knot and hurts real bad from where I had the Tetanus shot in my arm. Then I get a low grade fever (up 3 degrees) then chills. Felt bad all day, stayed in bed. I think all of that was a reaction to the Tetanus shot.

As the saying goes, "No Good Deed Goes Unpunished."

Yep it seems like when we try to help the tables are turned on us. I'm an animal lover too. I would have done the same thing. I'm so sorry about your arm. Get better soon.

I had an infection from a cat bite one time, just like BJPenny, and that was my own cat, not a stray. I'm surprised they didn't test the cat for rabies. I am an animal lover, too, but in the wild, they die or are killed all the time.

Cat bite can be dangerous. Did the doctor give you an antibiotic? I was bitten once on the index finger by our pet cat. He was sick and I was trying to help him. My hand and arm swelled up huge and red streaks came up my arm. I had to take antibiotics and soak my hand in hot as I could stand it with salt. It made the infection draw out. What a time that was. My cat died. Keep a check for swelling and streaks on you hand or arm. Go back to the ER in that case.

ugh. Sorry to hear that. Cat bites can be dangerous, so it's good that you got a tetanus shot.

You sound just like my sister. She is an animal lover as well, and things like this happen to her pretty often. emoticon

Good bless you for your kind heart!
