June evaluation and July's goals

Sunday, July 07, 2013

It is very tempting to call June a major fail but part of transforming myself is the realization that I have victories even when I don't meet a preset goal.

June's goals recap:

Weight- 8-15 lbs
Fitness- 6x per week (45-60 minutes each day), buy 3-month membership at sport gym and hire trainer to work on strength training, complete Hip Hop Abs
Nutrition: stay in range all month and reduce sugar intake.

Weight: down 2.4 lbs- clearly under my goal.
Fitness- goal met- I worked out 6x weekly all month and hired a trainer to help me with strength training, I did not like Hip Hop Abs so after a week I switched back to Jillian Michaels.
Nutrition- goal met- I also discovered that my range was way too low and had to reevaluate and make some adjustments.

Measurements- lost 5 inches overall.
Hips: -2
Knee: -.5
Bust: -.5
Thigh: -.5
Arm: -.25

July's goals:

Weight- 8-15 lbs
measurements- no exact goals- just smaller and reduced body fat %
Nutrition- stay in range and find something that works for consistent weight loss
Fitness- workout 6x weekly (1hr per day) and continue strength training.

Looks like a pretty good month to me! Yea, you didn't see a big number on the scale but you lost inches too! Plus you met your other goals so not only are you making progress on the scale, but you are making progress on an overall healthier you which is the most important thing! Keep on keepin' on!

I think the 5 inches lost is more telling of what is going on in your body right now than what you perceive as a bad month for weight loss! It tells me that other things are going on underneath the skin right now, and they are good things! I really do think that part of the reason things slowed down, weight-loss wise, is because of all the extra exercise.

Don't get me wrong! I think the exercise is a good thing! It'll pick back up soon, though. If not, you'll have to distrust spark's calorie ranges and play with them some more on your own. When it comes down to it, though, the more you lose, the harder it becomes to maintain high numbers of pounds lost. Everyone is different, so I can only tell you about my experiences. I started at 250lbs. I stayed FLAWLESS with diet& exercise for over 6 months before I started having trouble controlling my calories. Within that time, I only had two months with a loss of over 10lbs! For loose skin issues, I've read that 8 is really the max you want to shoot for. If you do more, and you lose a massive amount, there's a chance that there will be more skin that won't snap back.

I think you are doing GREAT! I'm jealous of your trainer, and you are getting a ton of exercise in! Every time you post about food, you are always looking for ways to enjoy yourself, but make the calories work. You are succeeding, and I have faith that you will continue to do so because you have a great mindset :D I know it's hard sometimes to remember that any loss is good loss when it's not as much as we'd like, but you really are doing AWESOME!

You posted a loss for the month and showed a decrease in measurements? I'd say that you actually had a pretty good month! Keep up the good work and good things will happen!

I think any loss is still a great loss...and I think you are on the right track. I bet July will be a very good month for you in terms of weight loss!
