My last visit to the allergy specialist confirmed two additional allergies. Pineapple and oranges. I was not very surprised, I have noticed itching and burning on my hands after touching both, but I am still a bit bummed. I love the taste of pineapple! The oranges are not that hard to give up themselves, but I love them in orange sauces, and my favorite frozen treat contains orange-juice.
Giving up cheese has been HARD. I've had cravings. I've had head-aches. I've had recurrent dreams of eating cheese at night! I've even had sudden urges to throw out all the cheese in the fridge, fueled by feelings of resentment and jealousy towards my husband, since he has ALL the cheese to himself now. (I've been both annoyed and mildly amused observing my thoughts and feelings this past week.) I guess these are all symptoms of cheese-withdrawal..
I have replaced my cottage cheese meals with ham or eggs on whole-grain bread for the most part. This is adding a lot more carbohydrates to my diet. Not something my body responds well to, it seems. I am feeling hungry more often now. Oddly the bread is not as filling to me, despite offering more fiber and calories. So, long story short, I've been a tad grumpy, hungry and bloated.
Ugh, oh well. I am still adjusting. It will get better. I just need more time. And more wine. And more chocolate.
