I read that somewhere last night....

How freaking Spartan is that?!

I did my first 5 mile walk/run in over 10 years, and my pace is better than it has been all week; 16:48. That's 56 seconds faster than I have been doing all week so I am really happy about that.

The only real pain I have so far was in my foot for about 10 minutes after I stopped. My knees were bugging me a little during the run in the last 1.5 miles or so. I think when I improve my form and lose a few more pounds that will get better.

On my first day it felt like my calves and my shins were on fire. Today they feel weak, but I don't feel a burn, or a pain, or even tightness really.
I noticed my heart rate is recovering faster, and I feel like I can run faster longer more times. I definitely have more energy.

I still have to fight to get myself to the gym. Once I am there I don't want to leave, but getting myself there is 90% of the battle.

Yesterday I went and there was like 30 minutes left, so I turned around and went home. I told myself I would run on the beach, which was crowded, so I went home and did....NOTHING. That means I didn't hit my goal of 15 miles a week this week, coming in at 8.08 miles.

This week WILL be better.

    Also, I haven't had any soda or energy drinks in over a week! This makes me incredibly happy. It's amazing how many extra calories I have a day since I cut them out!
