Looking forward to a new "hip" look.

Sunday, July 07, 2013

One of the things that really annoys me about being overweight is how hard it is to find clothes that fit, are flattering, and that look youthful and hip to match my outgoing and somewhat whimsical personality. As an avowed "geek," I am also super-excited about the prospect of building up a new collection of cool babydoll t-shirts to celebrate different sci-fi shows and the bands that I like.

I'm also really excited about the idea of splurging on pairs of high-quality designer jeans once I reach my target weight. I'm committed to the plan of getting to my target weight and then setting myself a ten-pound window (no more than five pounds over or five pounds under).

I'm fortunate to work in a field where, unless I have to dress up for an interview or similar, nice jeans and a blazer are completely sufficient for a work outfit. I love the look of perfectly fitted jeans, a sharp blazer, hot shoes, a little jewelry, and a fun and unexpected tee under the blazer.

I try hard to dress comfortably, flatteringly, and professionally at my current weight but ain't gonna lie--it's hard! So improving my wardrobe and overall "look" is something I am really looking forward to with this weight loss project.

I'm also planning to change my hair once I get closer to target weight. Maybe once I am a little over halfway there. Right now I'm thinking maybe cut it super-short like I used to wear it and experiment with a cool new color.

    I hear you!
I want to fit in all the cute field clothes everyone else wears. (I'm a geologist. We live in Ts and jeans and cargos and hiking boots.)

I am sooo with you on that. I have hated in the past (I can say that now that I've lost 15.6kgs) I hated that I only could choose from a very small selection of clothes. Now that I am the largest size in the regular stores, Im having SO MUCH MORE FUN buying clothes. Keep making great choices and the shopping fun world becomes ours. emoticon

Those sound like some fun things to work for and stay motivated for! I've got some similar goals as well -- with one being I'd like to completely re-work my wardrobe. But in the meantime, I don't want to go out and buy any new clothes -- which makes me have to work with what I've got. Looking forward to those days though!

The problem is what to do in the mean time! The transition period is hard because you don't want to invest in a lot of good clothes that aren't going to fit for very long.

I am really looking forward to getting close to my goal weight so that I can invest in some good staples again! I'm tired of only having one or two pairs of jeans.
