Recalibration

This past week marked my 1 year Spark Anniversary. Finding this site has been one if the best things that has happened to me, and while the journey has had its ups and downs, overall I'm very happy with my progress. I lost 40 pounds (regained some back recently), starting running 5Ks (and shocking myself by doing things like placing 5 of 86 in my age bracket), and increasing my strength and energy level.

Not that this has been a straight path. I was traveling for work recently, but that isn't a good excuse. I'd let myself slip back into some old habits even before that, sometimes eating pretty much whatever I wanted. Now I've regained 10 of the 40+ pounds I've worked so hard over the past year to lose. When you are nearly 5'10" the weight can pack on pretty quickly. Some of that may be water weight, but still...

So... I think it's time for a recalibration. Back to the basics from the start of this Spark journey that worked so well. Track all my food. Keep up with the workouts. Drink my water. Tap back into that stubborn and determined streak. Remember that no one but me can decide what I put in my mouth, and just because something is there does not mean I need to eat it! I know from experience in starting this journey last year at this time that this is the perfect time of year to make the push towards my goal. Warmer, longer days. Lots of available fresh fruits and veggies. Grilled fish and lean meats. Time in the pool. Yup - now is definitely the time...

All the support on Spark is awesome. I love the fact that even if things are hectic and I don't get here for a couple of days, as I log on there are lots of positive and motivating posts and updates on my friend feed. And I'm part of an awesome team (Sunny Gals!) with great team spirit and challenge participation to keep focus and momentum.
