What Propels Us To Move Forward in Life?

Sunday, July 07, 2013

A teammate, Ninalee, wrote a blog entitled Life is a Journey.

It was excellent!

However, after reading it, I asked the question, but WHAT propels us to move forward? And all I could think of was growth. . . oh, I know we naturally age but I am referring to something more meaningful, like from the lessons we learned along the way. Otherwise our lives are stagnant. They seem to go nowhere. We age, but that's about it!

Somewhere there is a lesson about weight loss. We have lost our control over ourselves. In a lot of cases, we become comfortable. Until something propels us to get going again. And that's how we gain back our control.

I've got my control back again (see previous blog about this subject) and that's why I have rejoined the 5% Summer Challenge. It's open now to all those who are interested.

Let's all journey together to a more healthful life!

Your question is great. What does? It seems that if I find a comfortable space in life, I grow with desire to change. If I find an uncomfortable space in life, I grow with desire to change. I never feel satisfied with the way it is here and now. I think it is a combination of biology and culture which feeds desire. If you figure it out, let us know!

I think that part of the problem is the change in everyone's life these days. When I was young mother's stayed home and had work schedules. Monday was wash day, Tuesday ironing, etc. They fixed 3 meals a day. T.V might have been on but was not much of a distraction. Work came first. Kids went to school and played outside so they were naturally slim. Now both mom's and children and even some dad sit all day at desks. Meals are eaten in the car on the run. It's hard to find time for oneself. Hard to grow in a frenzied existence.

How true that we have lost control along the line and must get it back. You seem to have found the control button again. Keep doing what is best for YOU!

Helen, you are so right in everything you say. I keep telling myself that I do not want to lose my good health, that indeed I have more strength to do this. I have redoubled my efforts and am already seeing some progress. That's what I need!
