Get Happy

Hidee ho sparkers

I'm having a fairly good weekend. I ran six miles (mostly) on Friday. I'm working towards my first 10K in November.

I visited with my parents yesterday with my son. Mom was having a rough day with her pain. It makes me feel very helpless.... and more determined to keep sparking!

I heard a comment yesterday that really knocked me down several notches. Funny how old issues can pop back up and cut you so deeply. Then the scale was up a pound this morning.

I decided to let it all go. You can't change the past, you can only keep moving forward and I decided to be happy with the one-pound gain. I had two days of 4th of July festivities and stopped a slide back into unhealthy eating before it got out of control. That's a win!

So on this Sunday morning, I am looking up videos to continue to lighten my mood. Some of these may not work on a mobile device, you have to be on a pc.

This song, On Top of the World by Imagine Dragons, inspired me on my run Friday, great rhythm and excellent lyrics:

I posted this one last week but I have to post it again, Be Brave by Sara Bareilles. Great feel-good video to watch and great lyrics. I heard it in the car over the weekend. I turned the volume way up and sang along (good thing I was alone ha ha):

One of my favorite TV shows growing up, One Day at a Time... "so while you're here, enjoy the view, keep on doing what you do, hold on tight, we'll muddle through one day at a time":

And let's bring Judy into the mix... "forget your troubles, come on get happy"

So friends, I'm going to do some yoga now, walk the dog, then get ready to visit my
daughter for her birthday.

I hope everyone has a superb Sunday!

Good job pulling out of that down-time. I agree with you about how it is "funny" those old wounds can open up so easily. But you are making great strides at not letting them keep you down. Very admirable!

Hope your week is going well!

Great job with the runs, just keep it up!
How often do you weigh in? A pound of difference can be just due to bathroom, hydration, lack of sleep, slower digestion, more exercise, whatever. If I notice a trend over several days/weeks, then I count it in. But for me, there is daily variation.

Sometimes, we have to just make "our own happiness" despite what comes up. Good for you for looking at the brighter side and realizing what you can and cannot change. It's great that you can turn a "negative" into a positive. emoticon and emoticon

so much better to smile and be happy than be the other, I have to work on it some days, (as we all do) but a smile and a nice brisk walk does wonders for me, and everyone around me emoticon Keep it up

Hurray for using the wisdom and understanding you have to let it go and keep your eyes focused on what's in front of you, instead of behind you!

Happy is sometimes, just a decision away. Good for you for not allowing the scale to steal your happiness!
