Summer Off

Saturday, July 06, 2013

My best news after a long blogless spell is that my job has survived a couple of rounds of budget cuts. Work was hectic before end of school year in June. I had only a week to catch up, clean up, do laundry and pack before vacation in the northwest to visit daughter in her new home and go on my husband's dream trip, an Alaska cruise. We had fun doing some housewarming shopping trips and Seattle sightseeing with daughter. Husband earned big-time daddy points hanging her largest heaviest pictures and assembling furniture.

The cruise was wonderful! We saw lots of wildlife including whales, a marmot, and a moose. Pictures can't do justice to what we saw, only bring back memories of where we were. Yes, glaciers DO have the blue tint I'd read about. We ate salmon nearly everyday in some form or another. I could do with salmon Benedict often!

Work stress and cruises are not good for weight loss efforts. I came home ready for a serious restart. I've dropped some teams, am trying a few new ones, will keep only those that help me the most. Once I go back to work, the time I can spend on SP is limited so I want to stick with the parts that do the most in the least time. The nutrition tracker is essential. Staying in range is essential. I like to see number of calories burned on the fitness tracker, but QuickTrack is a time saver, and I'll go back to that in August. I love reading and responding to SP blogs, but FriendFeed is a quick way to stay in touch when I don't have time. THANK YOU, friends, who keep up with mine.

A few summer goals
1. Fit easily into my nice work clothes by mid-Aug
2. Try one new time-saving SP recipe per week
4. 30 min daily fitness

Edited 10 PM thought of another goal
5. Make a positive note on my nutrition and fitness trackers daily. The positive self-talk is really important. Thought of that after berating myself for what I didn't do today instead of congratulating myself on what I did.

Great plan and I pray for your effort to meet each and every one of them! I really gave myself a kick start when I got a fit bit at the beginning of June. I went from really inactive to 10,000 steps a day. I now have walked 146.2 miles in one month. Good luck and stay motivated!

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to keep me motivated!

Sounds like a good plan and i envy you going on a cruise. I have never been on one and probbaly will never get to unless I marry a rich man. I am bored and tired of the same old thing. Once i marry again i want tu travel before I get too old. Enjoy your time off and try to keep in touch.
