This past Tuesday early morning, one of our town
s finest young men was killed in Kabul, Afghanstein. He was a defense contractor with the A.F..

He was in his mid-forties. In the early 80's; he, DD2 and I worked together at the grocery. He left there and went to work at the factore, hubby worked at. Hubby was his boss. They also ran on the EMS squad together where he was a captain for hubby.

After that, he was dispatcher for the local police dept., later becoming a patrolman. Then, he went to the County Sheriff's Dept. as a dispatcher; later becoming a road deputy. Five years ago, he became a Defense Contractor. He loved his work training Afghan.s to become police officers. He was doing what he loved when he gave his life.

Being on our Church's Prayer Chain I got the call to pass on! I was writing all the info. down to pass on. When the Emmintis Pastors wife said the name as I was prepared to write it down; I felt a sinking sick feeling at the pit of my stomach! I heard the name, and, yet I didn't hear the name! I asked for the name again. When she repeated the name 'Kurt Muncy'; I replied 'Oh, no, Rose'. She asked if I knew him! Everyone in my family does! He felt like a son to me. He was home just two weeks ago, to help celebrate his parents 50th Wedding Anniversary! His body will arrive back in town between 8-9 p.m. tomorrow evening!

God Rest His Soul!

My heart goes out. HUGS and prayers.

My own son, currently stationed in the Army in Alaska, was in Afghanistan only 3 days when 3 of his mates died from an IED. 6 days into the deployment he himself was badly wounded, but is recovering (that happened last August). Nothing can prepare you for such a horrid event but I wish peace for that young man's family. You never get over it, but hopefully the good memories will be more frequent than the sadness.

So sorry.

I will keep the family in my prayers this morning.
And I will ask my Sunday School class to pray as well.

How sad! I do think it was good he was with his parents for the 50th wedding anniversary, so they have some recent memories to cherish!
