good week and conquering a fear

Saturday, July 06, 2013

The past week has been real good for me. Even tho the stress level was high for a few days. I was still able to watch what I ate. I exercised and finally got to enjoy the sun. Yes that big beautiful golden ball in the sky has been shining down on us and I think that has helped a lot with the way I have been feeling.

Conquering a fear has been a thorn in my side for over 9 years. I have stairs in my house that goes up stairs to the only shower in the house. I have been using a make shift shower, being overweight and having arthritis in my knees and hips. I was afraid of falling. the stairs became my enemy. well this past week I conquered my enemy faced my fears and climbed those steps. When I got to the top and then back to the bottom of the stairs I knew that I am the only one stopping myself from reaching my goals and conquering my fears. But I also feels good knowing that I am not alone that there are people I can turn to for support. emoticon

I've found that whenever my mobility has been a problem - and to some extent it always is - if I think a few steps ahead of myself as to what I'm going to do, I map out the strategy, and it's safer and easier that way. Sounds like you did the same here :) Stairs represent a challenge for me, too, so as much of a nuisance and a fear as that is, you're not alone... emoticon

I HAVE THE SAME FEAR - BUT FOR GOOD REASON. THE LAST TIME I USED THE STAIRS MY RIGHT KNEE (LOADED WITH ARTHRITIS) GAVE OUT ON ME AND I DID WIPE OUT TOTALLY SHATTERING THE KNEE. SO I SAY GOOD FOR YOU. YOU NOT ONLY CONQUERED YOUR FEAR BUT YOU DID IT SAFELY. AND THINK OF THE ADDED EXERCISE YOU CAN GET GOING UP AND DOWN THOSE STAIRS. AND I'LL BET THAT SHOWER FELT GREAT!
ERIN emoticon DIFFERENT KIND OF SHOWER BUT IT'S ALL I COULD FIND. LOL
