Tiny Turtle Returned To Students After Tornado

Saturday, July 06, 2013

I just saw this story in the Oklahoma City newspaper about a Turtle that has been returned to the 1st Grade Class whose school was destroyed by a Tornado last month. The Turtle was named Franklin and was found across the street from the school by a young boy a few days after the Tornado. The Oklahoma State University Vet School has been taking care of the Turtle and said that "He" is probably a "She" although she is too young to be absolutely sure. They named her Hope.

That makes me very happy! I adopted a 47 year old slider last month. She was raised by a person for 46 years until they went into a nursing home. The family turned her in to an animal shelter, who turned her to the turtle rescue society (to which I belong) and now she is my buddy.
