Saying Goodbye

Saturday, July 06, 2013

I've been pretty preoccupied lately, not paying much attention to my nutrition or working out. No I'm not quitting or making excuses. I do what I can do. As some of you know my dads health has been declining over the last 6 months. This last week we set him up with hospice. He has only a very short time left, hours, days. It will not be long. My heart is breaking. He has always been there for my brother sister and I. My sister and I still are doing all the care. He is not able to verbalize his needs yet he asks for us to help him. I wish I could do more for him. He is sleeping a lot, when he is awake he is restless. He refuses his meds a lot of the time. Sometimes he will take them. I am going to ask the hospice nurse for topical pain and anxiety meds. Hopefully they will help.
I hope my spark friends will keep my family in your prayers. Hugs Pat

I went thru the same with my dad 2 years ago. I now am so happy that I made his final days comfortable. Hospice is awesome. Don't know if he knew we were there it didn't matter. You will get back at it as soon as you are ready.

Keep up the good work and much success on your journey!

Prayers for you and your family. Hospice is wonderful; they will help to keep your dad comfortable at this difficult time. Accept what help they offer they are there for you too. Taking care of yourselves will help in caring for your dad. emoticon
