It is July!!! Here is my quick recap of my personal distance goal challenge.
This month, I feel like I did not do much. I actually had no time to go to the gym and was spending so many hours working that the little time I had left, I needed it to sleep (I track it on "my other goals" and my June average is less than 6 hours/night... which is not enough for me!). However, when I was taking a break, or during the weekend, I went for walks with my hubby and we did a few bike rides!
So, surprisingly, I did an average of 40 km / week (25 miles)
Considering that I was also away for 5 days and I spent another 2 days in a car driving, this is not bad.
My new total for 2013 is now: 1063 km (664 miles)
In June, I did 215km (134 miles)
Hey !!!- I busted 1000 km...
My overall goal this year is to go further than I did in 2012 (2025Km / 1258 miles)... And if it all goes well, I will make it!
Reviewing my fitness goals (posted Jan 2013)// here is my status to this day
My fitness goals for 2013 (beside the Go the Distance 2013):
1) Competing at the Canadian Forces Nationals for running in May 2013:
- February 10K Winterlude Race //
I qualified!!! (46 min) and I won 1st Female 40-44 and New Record for Female Master!!!
- Canadian Forces Running Championship 10k - Ottawa May 2013 //
I won a GOLD for the 10km Female Master Category!
- I would also like to do my PB (so below 46 min) //
Done!!! Official time is 45.20 but my garmin forerunner indicated 44.56!
2) I will run the Half-Marathon Army Run again... we have to defend our title! //
I will not defend our title, the organizers of the race decided to drop the team competition! I will however run this race again, many of my unit members are also going this year, I guess I inspired them to try something more! It should be fun. I started training last week... and this will be my building block for a full marathon in October. I would like to do as good as I did last year (1:38) or better!!!
3) I will run my first marathon ... the next day of the CF Nationals 10km... My goal here is just to complete it!... and maybe qualify for this category for the 2014 Nationals!
X2 !! Well, I will run 26.2, but I did not do it the next day after the championship in May. I am currently on week 2 of a 18 week training plan (Hal Higdon)
... and I am hoping to qualify to compete in the Canadian Forces Running Championship to represent the Female Master Category for Marathon!
I need a time below 3:45. I know I can do this, the challenge is - this is my FIRST 26.2
4) Not sure about a half marathon prior to May... // DID NOT HAPPEND and that is ok.
5) I would like to get a team together to participate in the Relay for Life in June//
We did much better than I had anticipated!
My new goals for the second half of 2013:
July: Hike the West Coast Trail (that is our summer vacation this year - so excited!) We started training, walking the trails at the military base with our backpack! I truly enjoy that quality time with my hubby...
Aug : Keep up with the training plan
Sept : ARMY Run 13.1
Oct: It is decided, I am running the 26.2 International Niagara Marathon
Nov: Break! We are going to Vegas!
December... push it to reach my distance goal for 2013!
Comparing my stats, here is the graph that Spark generated for 2012
and the one for the first half of 2013 (yeah, July is kinda low, I am working on it!
I find this very interesting! The curve is similar... I know I will pick up the miles with this nice weather and I will keep pushing because I have specific goals in mind.
I am also looking forward to receiving my Fitbit! It should be in the mail early next week.
I think my fitbit and my upcoming races will be my kick in the but to
