Things are starting to calm down for now....

Ever since we got back from our week-long bicycle trip last weekend, we have been busy trying to get our house in order from our move the week before. Every day this week, we made several trips to our local dump/recycling center. One day, we had a truck from a local charity come and we completely filled it with furniture we no longer needed or didn't fit right in our house. We also made trips every day to that same charity taking carloads of "stuff". We are glad to have other people be able to use so much of it.

Today, we hosted a family get together. We we able to give away quite a few things to them. We also had a lot of fun just getting together. We served lunch. I kept it really simple (grilled chicken, cole slaw, baked beans, melon balls and ice cream). After the really busy weeks we have been having, I knew I didn't want to wear myself out hosting the lunch. I think everyone had a good time and the food was really tasty. Less is more!

Now, we have six days before we leave for Wisconsin. We are going to visit a friend. From his house, we are going to do attempt our first fully self-supported bicycle ride. We plan to ride for a week from Whitewater, WI to Stevens Point, WI and back. We will bike approximately 300 miles. We are going to use Google maps to figure out a route. That can be tricky because Google has sent us on some pretty crazy bicycle routes. The other tricky part will be figuring out where to sleep at night. I'm looking into Warm Showers hosts and camp grounds. This could be interesting.....

More to come!

  • FLORIDASUN are gearing up for MORE adventure. I just LOVE this! I read a really amazing article in this month's Prevention magazine all about biking and how it had changed people's lives for the better!

Then I spent our entire lunch telling DH all about you and your hubby's great bike riding adventures...I'm thinking HOW EXCITING...and HEALTHY exciting too.

Once we finally find out what the heck is going on with this house situation this may be something we look into. I'm up for a new bunch of adventurous friends..that's FOR sure!

So nice of you to host the should do potluck from now on and let everyone bring a covered dish..that's what we do with our dine in group and it sure lightens the load.

Now...if only...they would load the dishwasher and put all the extra tables and chairs away before they leave! emoticon

You can do it! What an adventure! I'm in VT/MA for the weekend and saw lots of bikers. I did two trips in Nova Scotia/PEI with groups when I was a teenager. Loved it and would love to do it again. You'll find folks to put you up. We spent nights in barns and stuff, but I'm sure when you go through those little towns and have a meal someone will offer you a place to stay. You'll be surprised and delighted. Have fun!!!!!

This sounds like a real adventure! I spent summers in Door County, Wisconsin and would love to revisit some day.

You'll be a little too far north to crash at my house, but if you ever make it to northern IL on your bike trips, we'll have to try and connect! Sounds like everything is falling into place - so happy for you!!! Enjoy the time in WI!!
