Soon we won't remember...

What made America a country and an ideal worth fighting for. Our children no longer say the Pledge of Allegiance in school in fact, most don't even learn American History any more. Ask people about celebrities and reality shows and they know more about that then about current events nationally and globally. Some don't even know which song is the National Anthem or even what the words are. Yesterday at a 4th of July cookout/birthday party, we celebrated the Birthday and mourned the Nation... It was sad.

So true. Great Blog. Deep thinking. Ask the kids about Facebook or Instagram they know exactly what so and so did long time ago. So much have changed from our generation gap to now. But as parents, what can we do? Mmmm....

It is easy to forget how fortunate we are, when we put all our focus on the negative. Even the definition of "poverty" in our country is much wealthier than most of the world.

Wow, so true and so very sad! How/when did America get so messed up? Its heartbreaking. Alls we can do is pray we get it straightened out before its way too late.

As sad as the country seems now, there is hope. The schools here in my hometown still say the Pledge of Allegiance. My son graduated from high school about a month ago. They had a full color guard, said the Pledge and the Texas Oath AND had a moment of silence. I was very proud. All is not lost.

I am amazed sometimes when people forget what being an American is all about. My favorite shows are from the History Channel on how the Founding Fathers fought for what we now take for granted. Maybe we can get kids back into what a rich history this country has! emoticon

I saw some people saying on facebook that they couldn't believe America was 2013 years old...made me shake my head...
