Good news and not-so-good news.

Friday, July 05, 2013

The good news is that my son is doing pretty darn good after surgery. He went to his first PT visit this morning, so is a little sore. He's tough and was really "pushing." I think he just wants this over. It will be, in a couple of months. emoticon

The not-so-good news is I couldn't run today. I tried many times, but my IT was really sore. I walked over 4.5 miles this morning and I really worked on form. Abs tight, arms swinging and steps smaller. I was trying to make sure I got the best workout I could.

When I was at my son's PT session, I made a comment about standing up. The PT asked about my knee and IT band. He said that he'll look at it once my son starts to make progress. I had jokingly said a 2 for 1 special. I didn't really think he'd see me now. I was mentioning that I could come back after my son was finished. I'll take free advice.

As we were leaving the PT said no running this weekend! Augh! I guess an Insanity video and long walk with have to do! emoticon

Glad to hear the news about your son. emoticon

Hope your back and running soon. I am having a little discomfort today with that also. Ice and the dreaded rest. UGH! I will try hiking today.

Glad your son is doing well. It's always hard to see our kids go through a surgery. I'm thinking that "insanity" workout does not sound like a good thing for someone with a running injury... please be sure you should do that in place of running!

I'm glad your son is doing well,
but I'm so sorry about the IT band!
Take good care of yourself!

I echo what OneKidsMom just said. I've never seen Insanity, but I have done P90X and some of those moves caused some stress I didn't expect.

A little break like Mirage said may be a good idea. You won't lose fitness with a few days off, difficult those it may be to do that.

I'm glad your son is doing well.

Uh, Mako, has it occurred to you that the Insanity workout might be contributing to slowing down recovery? Be careful to pick one that doesn't aggravate it! Just sayin'... want you WHOLE and healthy, woman!

It'll be hard but try to keep your workout light and shorter. See what the PT says next week. Hope your son recovers fast.

Uh, MJ? Did you tell the PT what you were going to do? I've been through this, and spoken with others when I did. It's hard but a lil break now could pay off in a quick return to the run. Just sayin' from one addict to another!

I am glad to hear your son is doing so well. I hope you will get better with your leg. But at least you get to go walking. Don't overdo. Have a great weekend.!!

I really understand how hard it is when you find something you love and want to do and then can't. That is just so frustrating.

I'm happy you son is doing well. If he is ANYTHING like you, he will recover in no time. You are a strong determined woman.
