ONEderland in 2013?

Friday, July 05, 2013

I started this journey in 2011 at my highest weight of 254. Each year, I set a goal to get out of the 200s. This year was no different. It's not a pipe dream, yet the goal still eludes me. The lowest I've been in these past three years is 221. I know what it takes to get there. I also know that I could still do it this year with a modest 1.5 pound loss per week.

I also know the weight is not just going to fall off. Instead of thinking about what I should be doing, I need to do it! It's time to get out of my head and into some action!

I know what my plan should be, but even as I write this, I don't feel like I have the energy to commit to it. I'd like to workout for an hour three or four days a week. Now that I have to drive into work, maybe 30 minutes six days a week is more realistic. I prefer to work out in the morning, but with the extra commute time, I don't know if I want to get up even earlier. I currently get up at 5 am and go to bed around 9 pm. Maybe I could try getting up at 4:30. An 8:30 bedtime seems weird, but it would be worth it if I can reach some consistency with my fitness.

My food plan is pretty rock solid until I get home from work. I eat breakfast and pack a lunch. What I really need to do is plan my dinner meal and put the left overs away after I fix my plate. emoticonI will not eat another dinner meal that doesn't have a healthy portion of veggies! I'm also going to pack an afternoon snack with my lunch so I'm not ravenous as soon as I walk in the door after work.

There you have it, a few simple adjustments to what I'm already doing should send me soaring past my goal line! There are 179 days left in 2013. Do you have a target weight you are trying to achieve by year-end? What's your plan to get there?

I will agree you have the right plan! I believe after you do your exercise plan for a week or two straight you will need less sleep. Since I have modified my diet and walking everyday I usually only sleep 6 hours and feel ALOT better. Also, maybe your morning exercise could be only 10 -15 mins. and if you havent tried some beginner pilates you should, that would be great for a short morning work out, It strengthens your muscles and makes you more limber and you will feel great all day and it will make your evening cardio easier!
Best Wishes!

Great blog and plan. Maybe try making that afternoon snack fruit and veggy or something very healthy. I like to plan dinner by using the slow cooker - you can prepare it the night before, throw it on in the morning and viola....

Keep this focus, and keep tweaking your plan.... you will get there.

I hear you! I will be reaching Onederland this year as well. I had the same problem with the energy. I never stop so finding enough energy to stay motivated on me is so hard. I finally found something that is helping, I'm down 11 pounds in the last 6 weeks & I can finally see my goal for this year becoming a reality! emoticon emoticon

I think you have a great plan! I have spent the last 4 years, maintaining at a weight that is still 30-40 lbs about where it should be. I'd like to think I can finally make a plan work and reach that final goal. I had no problem losing the 1st 50 lbs and keeping it off for the most part, but I need to get moving down!

You and I are about the same weight. My dream is to reach ONEderland also. But I think of it in segments of 10 pounds at a time. For myself, I feel this is the best plan to follow. But your thinking of 1.5 pounds a week is outstanding. That is very doable. You will find a place for your exercise. You want it and you will find a way to do what you want. Anxious to follow your progress and see you enter that magic land of ONEderland. Keep up the belief in yourself.

I'd love to see Onederland this year too - at the rate I'm going it's not going to happen. I just can't seem to find that sweet spot - the balance between calories to eat and how many to burn. . .

I'm in awe of anyone who can get up early to workout. I tried it once many years ago but it didn't work out - emoticon ! I do manage to get mine in most evenings, but I'm lucky enough to live 10 minutes from the office so I'm home early every day.

Good luck with your goal. I hope you can find the balance that works for you.

I like how you realize what is attainable.

So you know...the days I work out in the am...I have to be in bed by 830pm in order to get up just before 430am. Sounds like we almost have the same schedule.

199 or less....yep....2014...you bet!
